DeepSeek Accelerates Industry Adoption, Xiaomi Joins the Race, and AI Glasses May See a Growth Opportunity

DeepSeek’s rapid rise is accelerating the adoption of on-device AI. According to a research report by Guotai Junan Securities, DeepSeek-R1, a high-performance inference small model, will drive the expansion of on-device AI applications, boosting the shipment volumes of AI-powered smartphones, AI PCs, and AI glasses.

The AI glasses industry is experiencing rapid growth and attracting strong market interest, with a wave of new product releases this year. On January 2, consumer-grade AR brand RayNeo signed a strategic agreement with Alibaba Cloud, establishing an exclusive partnership in the AI glasses sector. This marks the first deep customization collaboration between a domestic large AI model company and a hardware manufacturer.

At CES 2025, major tech companies showcased their latest AI glasses products. Ping An Securities predicts that with more players entering the market, AI smart glasses will see a surge in new product launches in 2025.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), global shipments of AI glasses are projected to reach 12.8 million units in 2025, representing a 26% year-over-year growth. The Chinese market is expected to account for 2.8 million units, reflecting a 107% increase. Forecasts from Wellsenn XR indicate that annual sales of AI smart glasses will reach 55 million units by 2029 and could surpass 1.4 billion units by 2035.

AI glasses offer two key advantages: first, they free users’ hands; second, they integrate multiple device functionalities. With advancements in chip technology and AI applications, future AI glasses are expected to feature enhanced capabilities, improved comfort, and more affordable pricing.

The AI era is unlocking limitless possibilities for smart glasses. Facing the booming of large AI models, innovative products such as the Sharge AI (China’s first mass-produced AI shooting glasses) and Xiaomi MIJIA Smart Glasses Camera have been equipped with AI.

Xiaomi’s upcoming AI glasses are likely to share similarities with the MIJIA Smart Glasses Camera, featuring an independent chipset and battery, enabling standalone operation without a smartphone. Embedded with AI large models, these glasses will enhance functionality and user interaction while supporting lens-based information displays for navigation, text translation, and even movie viewing.

The XR industry remains a blue ocean market, and AI-powered AR products have the potential to become the next-generation computing platform. Despite the current relatively small market size, major internet companies are likely to develop their own smart glasses. With Xiaomi incorporating more features into its next-generation AI glasses, the company may not only reshape the AI glasses landscape but also influence the entire XR industry.

This year C-TOUCH & DISPLAY EXPO will witness over 3,500+ manufacturers and suppliers from touch screens, LED, and Display related industries.
