Global Display & Touch Industry: How AI-Driven Innovation and Next-Gen Technologies Shapes the Future

The global display and touch industry is rapidly booming in China, with investment priorities shifting from traditional LCDs to advanced technologies such as OLED, Mini/Micro LED, and silicon-based OLED. Statistics indicate that in 2024 the total global output value of the display industry has surpassed USD 200 billion, up over 15% year-on-year, while China’s new display sector has exceeded USD 100 billion in output value, growing by more than 14% and now accounting for over 48% of the global market.

Meanwhile, cutting-edge display technologies—including OLED, Mini/Micro LED, quantum dot displays, and printed OLED—are continuously innovating and gradually reaching maturity. Emerging application fields such as extended reality (XR, encompassing AR/VR/MR), smart cockpits, smart homes, and industrial control in healthcare are also demonstrating tremendous growth potential, signaling a broader development horizon for the display and touch industry.

As AI technology advances, electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, and XR systems are increasingly integrating AI capabilities. This integration enriches product diversity, diversifies technical structures, and sparks a new round of device upgrades. Industry forecasts suggest that generative AI (Gen AI) could become a significant driver in the smartphone market. According to Counterpoint Research’s AI 360 service, shipments of Gen AI-enabled smartphones are projected to exceed 730 million units by 2028—more than three times the estimated shipments in 2024. By 2028, nine out of every ten smartphones priced over USD 250 are expected to feature Gen AI functionality.

AI is not only reshaping the consumer electronics market but also revolutionizing the automotive smart cockpit sector. AI-powered in-car displays significantly enhance both the safety and interactive experience of smart cockpits, serving as a pivotal medium in their evolution from single-function interfaces to more digitalized, interconnected, and entertainment-focused systems.

C-TOUCH & DISPLAY SHENZHEN is scheduled for October 28-30, 2025, at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center (Bao'an New Venue). As the benchmark event for intelligent touch and new display industry, it will showcase cutting-edge technologies in electronic component production, semiconductor packaging and testing processes, new display and smart touch manufacturing, automotive electronics, and consumer electronics terminal manufacturing materials along with smart manufacturing solutions. This one-stop event addresses procurement needs, technical exchanges, and business development.

In addition, the event will host over 80 themed high-level forums, seminars, and product launch events focused on trending topics such as new displays, smart cockpits and in-car displays, Mini/Micro LED, OLED, smart commercial displays, AR/VR wearable electronics, industrial and healthcare smart solutions, and AI technologies. These sessions will offer a comprehensive overview of the latest industry developments and future trends.
